About Me
That little "About Me" title in the upper left hand side of my blog doesn't give very much information, so I thought I'd share a little about myself and what I hope to share with you in this blog.
First of all, I am a Christian. Since many people call themselves "Christian" these days, I want to specify what that means to me. It means Christ-follower. It means Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, and no one comes to the Father except through Him. I also believe the Bible is the infallible Word of God. You will not change my mind on these things, so please don't try. Thank you. So be it. Amen.
I am married to a wonderful man that I will call "D" or "D-man" in this blog. I'm not sure how many people will read this, and I'm sure most who do (or both who do - hi Mom) will know what my husband's name is, but because of the public nature of this medium, I will refer to him as such. We have no children.
I am extremely imperfect. I have no doubt that there will be things I post which will be most un-Christlike. I am striving to be more like Jesus every day, but I will never reach perfection this side of Heaven. That being said, I usually will be convicted when I do or say un-Christlike things, so you will see that. And I am not above taking a slap on the wrist given in Christian love from a brother or sister.
Things to expect:
1. As I am going through my Christian walk day by day, I often read Bible passages, quotes from well-known Bible teachers, and devotions that I love and am just dying to share. I will share them here.
2. My husband and I love to travel, and I love planning trips, so I will probably share trip reports or even plans for trips that I may never take - yes, I love it THAT much.
3. I love movies, especially old ones, so I will share trailers for upcoming movies I'm excited about, as well as what I may be watching at the time. WARNING: My movie tastes are different from most of my friends, but I'll share anyway. You never know - you may find something you love!
4. I love many kinds of music! I fall in the middle of the Old Hymns vs. Contemporary debate we have in so many of our churches today. I like some of the contemporary music (and love some of it), but I think we should never lose our old hymns - there is so much good theology in many of them. I also like anything from classical (love Chopin!) to pop to country. I also like music I can shake my booty to. That can be a problem sometimes (see "un-Christlike" above). Just keepin' it real.
Things not to expect:
1. My personal problems. When I need to talk to someone about my personal problems, I usually go to my husband, a member of my family or my close girlfriends. I won't bug you with them unless you want me to. Just shoot me an e-mail and I'll lay it all on you. ;) j/k
2. Venting - I'm going to TRY not to do this. And if I do, you may or may not see it, because I will probably delete the post within a couple of hours. I am a big over-reactor, but I usually realize I've over-reacted after I've cooled down, so I apologize to anyone who may catch it. FYI - the venting will probably refer to work (bad idea on a blog anyway) or the questions I hate more than any in this world - "When are you going to have a baby/start your family/give your parents some more grandchildren?" (don't get me started) Here's the answer in case you are curious and I will not repeat myself. I put it in the Lord's hands a long time ago. It will happen when or if it is HIS time. Amen.
Okay this is really long so I'll shut up now. Got family coming today to celebrate Christmas.
Merry Christmas!!
